Abstract

Objectives This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows: To evaluate the effect of enteral supplementation with synbiotics (versus placebo or no treatment, or versus probiotics or prebiotics alone) on the risk of necrotising enterocolitis and associated morbidity and mortality in very preterm or very low birth weight infants.
